BACKGROUND

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Bateman Case Study Competition is one of the most biggest national competitions for public relations students. Each year, teams from universities across the country are challenged to develop and execute a full-scale public relations campaign for a real client. The competition is designed to simulate real-world agency work, requiring students to conduct research, create strategic plans, implement tactics, and evaluate results, all within a set timeline. Sponsored by the PRSA Foundation, the Bateman Competition emphasizes professional-level strategy, creativity, and measurable impact, giving students hands-on experience before entering the industry.

SUMMARY

For the 2025–2026 competition, the client was ACCESS Newswire, a global communications company specializing in press release distribution, media outreach, and investor relations solutions. The company connects brands with media outlets, journalists, and key audiences through its distribution network and digital tools. In this year’s competition, participating teams are tasked with increasing awareness, credibility, and adoption of ACCESS Newswire’s EDU Program among key audiences, particularly within academic and professional communities.

The campaign encouraged our team to position ACCESS Newswire as an essential, modern alternative in the evolving media landscape, while highlighting its value in helping students gain experience with industry-level tools before graduation.
